BUTTERWORTH: UDA Holdings Bhd has ignited a nationwide buzz with UDA Carnival 2023, offering entrepreneurs a platform to shine, grow, and showcase their projects.

The three-day carnival highlighted the much sought after Amaanee Residences at Wakaf Seetee Aisah 2 in Seberang Jaya among its other developments around the country.

Amaanee Residences is one of UDA Property's latest products.

At the carnival, UDA Holdings Bhd president and chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Salem Kailany shared that this time around UDA has combined two programmes into one, namely UDA Ria Property Campaign and USHAniaga.

"A total of 500 small enterprises are targeted to partake in the four events with sales worth over RM10mil.

"This target is promising as the carnival in Johor garnered RM2.96mil with 159 entrepreneurs taking part.

"Here at the Penang edition, we have 130 entrepreneurs showcasing their work and goods.

"While we have not received the numbers, it is safe to say we are more than half way towards our goal of achieving at least 100,000 visitors for all four carnivals," he said after the closing ceremony of the carnival held in Seberang Prai on Sunday.

Mohd Salem said response has been overwhelming at the first two locations of the UDA Carnival 2023 (Johor and Penang).

"There are many incentives offered here for those who purchase UDA properties, which I hope they make full use of and enjoy the perks.

"While the USHAniaga is a UDA initiative specifically for entrepreneurs to promote businesses and gain improvements in sales and marketing, in addition to stimulating economic growth among local entrepreneurs to benefit the community.

"The carnival is a platform to promote UDA properties in the country, especially in Johor, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Pahang, and our newest one in Sarawak as well," he said adding that it is suitable for all generations with various promotions and attractive prizes.

Closing the ceremony were Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Saraswathy Kandasami, Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid and state agrotechnology, food security and cooperative development committee chairman Fahmi Zainol among others.

Saraswathy, in her speech, said the carnival provides a platform for UDA entrepreneurs and collaborating partners to market their products and services on a larger platform.

"We are able to fulfil UDA's aspirations to create sustainable entrepreneurs, as well as to track, approach, guide and transform potential entrepreneurs who are competitive, resilient, and capable of competing in the domestic and global markets.

"Based on the encouraging response in Johor and now in Penang, we are positive that we can achieve the targeted RM10mil in sales," she said.

Apart from that, Saraswathy said the carnival is UDA's step to reach out and give exposure to the community regarding UDA's developments which includes residential and commercial property.

"This is to ensure visitors can choose from what UDA has to offer according to their taste and improve the quality of life of their whole family across all levels," she said.

Mohamad shared that working together with UDA has been fruitful over the years and has made a difference in the state.

"Penangites have benefited from the developments by UDA and this three-day carnival where entrepreneurs have been able to showcase their businesses," he said.

The Penang edition held at the Gravitas parking lot in Taman Pauh Jaya, Seberang Prai, over the weekend (Oct 27–Oct 29) was the second leg to a four-part carnival.

It will be followed by the ones in Lintasan Deasoka Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (Nov 24–Nov 26), and Angsana Ipoh Mall (Dec 8–Dec 10).

The first leg held in Johor at the end of September saw 25,000 people come out to enjoy the carnival and festivities offered by UDA.

The carnivals aim to help entrepreneurs, especially small enterprises and those just beginning to run businesses, where UDA takes the initiative to identify who needs help, proceeds to advise them, and help them market their products.
