FOOD delivery platform, GrabFood Malaysia recently celebrated 66 of the thousands of restaurants on its network in the GrabFood 5-Star Awards 2023.
These winning restaurants – from a variety of categories such as “Best Malaysian Food”, “Budget-Friendly Favourites” and “The Rising Star” – were recognised based on the reviews and ratings of millions of food enthusiasts.
Homegrown brands and local favourites, Village Park Restaurant and Roast & Coffee took home the prestigious “Best of the Best” awards, which is presented to restaurants that have consistently received the most orders, top ratings and positive reviews from their customers.
“Grab’s role in the everyday food journey of Malaysian consumers extends beyond just a delivery platform. We facilitate the discovery of new F&B and grocery outlets, provide reviews to aid their choices, and strive to add value in dine-in settings as well,” says Grab Malaysia director of commercial and deliveries Jiong Jian Tan.
“Our aim is to be the preferred platform for Malaysian food enthusiasts – providing convenience for both delivery and dine-in options, as well as encouraging consumers to engage with their favourite restaurants.
“Coupled with our tech tools, we remain committed to creating demand and broadening opportunities for our merchant partners to grow their business. The GrabFood 5-Star Awards 2023 mirrors our ongoing dedication and efforts to our valued restaurant partners’ growth.”
Helping merchants through data, ratings and reviews
Transitioning beyond deliveries, GrabFood has become a culinary exploration hub as its Grab 2023 Food and Grocery Trends* report revealed that 91% of Malaysian consumers use the Grab app to discover new restaurants and stores.
This presents growth opportunities for merchant partners, further driven by the consumer ratings and reviews feature, with more than 90% of users revealing that they read reviews online.
GrabFood's role as a dynamic ecosystem – not just a delivery platform – represents a thriving community that encourages culinary discovery and business growth.
Food delivery apps, like GrabFood, now closely trail family and friends as Malaysia's preferred method to discover new F&B venues, outpacing social media and food blogs.
Grab’s report further indicates that stores with positive ratings and reviews experience higher conversions.
Other trends in the report have also successfully fueled the growth of merchant partners, allowing them to quickly and effectively tap into the evolving food industry trends.
Grab’s commitment towards its partners is also evident through its suite of self-serve digital tools in the GrabMerchant app, demonstrating a dedicated effort to empower partners through collaboration and innovation.
