Experience a book lover’s paradise at BookFest @ Malaysia 2024


THE highly anticipated BookFest @ Malaysia 2024 is back for nine days filled with literary bliss and exciting activities.

This year’s BookFest, which takes place at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) from April 6 to 14 and runs from 10am to 10pm, is set to delight book lovers of all ages with its extensive array of books, daily specials, exclusive offers and captivating activities.

Exclusive deals and promotions

One of the main highlights of this year’s event is the 100 Years Celebration WOW! campaign, offering more than 200 must-buy items – from books to snacks and everything in between – all at attractive prices from as low as RM5.50 in conjunction with Popular’s 100th anniversary.

There will also be Daily Specials throughout the BookFest, with more than 200 products available at discounts of up to 80%, ranging from English, Malay and Chinese books to CDs, DVDs, collectables, IT gadgets and stationery.

What’s more is that with the PWP (Purchase with Purchase) promotion, visitors can get hand-picked goods at discounted prices, with a minimum spend of RM60.

Additionally, throughout the event, all books are available at a 20% discount (except for specific categories), allowing bookworms to indulge in their favourite reads at reduced prices.

BookFest is also rewarding its loyal patrons with a range of exciting offers. With a minimum spend of RM100, visitors stand a chance to win from a pool of 300 prizes worth over RM30,000.

Moreover, spending thresholds of RM100, RM150 and RM300 will unlock reward vouchers worth over RM10, RM50 and RM100 respectively, which are redeemable at various participating outlets such as 4Fingers, Caring Pharmacy, Juice Works, Eggette Lab, Gamuda Land, Brooks, Poh Kong, Sakae Sushi and ParaThai.

To commemorate Popular’s 100th anniversary, the company is introducing limited edition member cards. By renewing or registering for a limited edition Popular Privilege three-year card, available in three designs, you will be entitled to receive an exclusive Popular foldable UV umbrella and privilege vouchers. Alternatively, members can renew or register their Popular card for one year to get a Zebra or Sarasa clip gel retractable pen. Students can renew or register their Popular Student card for two years.

BookFest is also offering the Limited Edition Card Package for those who want to collect the entire set of Limited Edition 100th Anniversary Card designs.

Events and activities

Apart from the enticing offers and promotions, this year’s BookFest is also filled with interactive events, activities and literary competitions to captivate visitors of all ages.

Renowned author Chang Man-Chuan will be making a keynote appearance on April 7 at the Banquet Hall on Level 3, from 3pm to 5pm. To get a pair of complimentary tickets, you will have to purchase any book by Chang Man-Chuan at BookFest’s Hall 1.

BookFest is hosting meet-and-greet sessions with local and international authors such as Cheeming Boey, Kee Thuan Chye, Dr EE Zhang, Huang Shan Liao, Peter Su and Fong Yee Leong, at the Main Stage @ Hall 1 and Hospitality Lounge 1.

The Reader’s Choice Awards, established in 2008 to honour local authors, will announce winners on April 6 at the Main Stage @ Hall 1, with the top three authors in each category rewarded with a certificate of recognition and award plaque during the ceremony.

During BookFest, there will also be numerous competitions to engage visitors such as children’s choir, storytelling, colouring, and anime & cosplay.

Concurrently, a Children’s Choir Competition in collaboration with Young Choral Academy takes place on April 7.

BookFest will also host a Children’s Storytelling Competition from April 8 to 9, while an Anime & Comic Cosplay competition, featuring celebrity judges King Angel and Crazed Joker, is set for April 12.

On April 14, the "Reading Together" Children's Colouring Competition will offer prizes worth over RM9,000, with early registrants receiving exclusive gifts.

Moreover, visitors can unleash their creativity at art and craft workshops by Uni & Plus and Faber-Castell, as well as indulge in culinary delights at the Bon Appétit Day @ Cook-out Day event, which features a line-up of cooking demonstrations.

Sustainable efforts

In addition, the "Hope for Reading" initiative aims to provide educational opportunities for underprivileged individuals by providing them with access to essential tools and resources through the sale of limited edition bookmarks and tote bags.

In line with sustainability efforts, BookFest encourages visitors to bring their own bags as part of the "Bring Your Own Bag" campaign.

Visitors can also purchase the entry ticket at RM2.50 per ticket for one-time entry. A season pass is available for RM10 and allows unlimited entry throughout BookFest @ Malaysia 2024.
