ENDORSED by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti), two independent think tanks – the Centre of Regional Strategic Studies (Cross) and Southeast Asia Research Centre for Humanities (Search) – have partnered with Wellous Group Limited and key government agencies under Mosti to co-organise the inaugural 2024 APAC Technopreneurship Empowerment Conference (ATEC 2024) on Aug 8.

ATEC 2024, which will be held at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, is designed to advance technological innovation and technopreneurship through strategic collaboration between the government and industry, in line with Mosti’s primary objectives.

The one-day conference will focus on cultivating a robust ecosystem for science, technology and innovation, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and empowering technopreneurs to leverage emerging technologies for entrepreneurship, while enhancing regional exposure for local innovators.

“We believe this conference will be one of the most pivotal events in the region, firmly establishing Malaysia as an influential hub that connects local technopreneurs to the broader regional technopreneurship landscape, while positioning Malaysia as a market leader and major influencer in the region,” said Cross chairman and ATEC 2024 organising chairman Lee Chean Chung at a press conference held at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel.

The strategic partnership formed for ATEC 2024 includes collaborations with several government agencies under Mosti, including NanoMalaysia Berhad, Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA), Bioeconomy Corporation, Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, MIMOS Berhad and Young Scientists Network – Academy of Sciences Malaysia.

Malaysia-China Kuantan International Logistics Park (MCKILP) Development Sdn Bhd has also joined as a strategic partner for the conference.

The partnership aims to foster innovation and promote technopreneurship, signifying a collaborative effort to drive technological innovation and empower regional technopreneurship development across the Asia-Pacific region.

Additionally, it highlights the importance of public-private collaboration in driving socio-economic development and fostering an ecosystem conducive to technopreneurship through joint research projects, policy dialogues and capacity-building programmes.

Each organisation brings unique strengths and expertise, ensuring a balanced and collaborative approach to advancing initiatives that amplify collective impact and achieve shared goals.

“The introduction of ATEC 2024 provides a strategic avenue for experts and stakeholders from across the region to explore new synergies between industries, and gain first-hand knowledge and insights from industry forerunners,” said Search chief executive officer Ian Neo.

“We believe there are vast opportunities from the untapped potential that we can harness through this conference.”

Wellous Group Limited co-founder and chief executive officer Andy Tan added that he is delighted to partner with Mosti, Cross, Search and other government agencies to help drive the advancement of technopreneurship in the country.

“We are excited to embark on this collaborative journey with our strategic partners from both public and private sectors, in alignment with our mission to promote innovative and tech-enabled platforms for health and wellness awareness.

“This partnership underscores the commitment to driving positive impact in the region by harnessing the power of innovation and collaboration. We are eager to see the new ideas and connections that will emerge from this event, and are confident that these meaningful connections will propel Malaysian technopreneurs to global success,” he said.

ATEC 2024 will feature exclusive forums focused on four key areas: Space Economy, Bioeconomy, New Energy Economy and Tech Talent Economy.

There will also be innovative technology showcases and networking sessions, as these focus areas will bring together a unique mix of delegates and attendees, enabling the exchange of innovative ideas and discussions for creative problem-solving in the field of technopreneurship.

Attendees can also experience the Tech Consulting Corner, a hallmark of ATEC 2024, which will offer exclusive access to expert advice and consultancy services, designed to support technopreneurs and innovators.

Between August and October, three roundtable meetings will be held with stakeholders to focus on the development of key industries. These meetings will be moderated by MYSA, Bioeconomy Corporation and NanoMalaysia Berhad.
