DURING a press conference held on Sept 11, China’s vice minister of commerce, Li Fei, stated that after 20 successful sessions, the China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) has accumulated valuable experience and achieved productive results.
The expo now serves as an important platform for China and Asean member states to carry out far-reaching economic and trade cooperation in more fields at deeper levels.
For example, featured products such as Vietnam’s G7 Coffee, Malaysia’s Musang King durians, Thailand’s jasmine rice and Laos’ beer, have entered the Chinese market over the years through the CAEXPO and have been well-received by Chinese consumers.
This year, the 21st CAEXPO will be held from Sept 24-28 at Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Nanning, China.
It is organised with higher quality and efficiency to build more consensus, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and help build closer ties between the China-Asean community.
The event will feature numerous highlights and initiatives. Firstly, CAEXPO will introduce the Pavilion of Strategic Emerging Industries to highlight significant development achievements.
Centred around fostering new productive forces tailored to local conditions, it will showcase the latest developments and technical innovations in emerging fields such as digital technology, green and low-carbon solutions, new energy and intelligent connected vehicles.
In addition, the new Asean High-tech Exhibition Zone will showcase high-tech achievements in industries such as public health, biomedicine, new energy and IT services from countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Cambodia.
This initiative aims to assist high-tech Asean enterprises expand their presence in developing markets in China and beyond.
Additionally, CAEXPO will focus on pragmatic cooperation and showcase opportunities for collaboration with its partners.
For the first time, Gulf countries will be invited to participate in the expo, with the UAE serving as a special partner and a delegation of UAE buyers in attendance.
Members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) will also be invited to participate in the expo, with featured products from Kazakhstan and other SCO countries set to be unveiled.
Enterprises from other Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member countries such as Australia and Japan, as well as countries relevant to the Belt and Road Initiative such as Poland, Serbia and Brazil will also participate in the expo.
Moreover, CAEXPO will provide better market services and expand platform functions.
This year’s expo will be held for five days, as opposed to the previous session’s four-day event.
This year’s expo will include an additional open day for the public, allowing enterprises to better understand the market while giving visitors a chance to experience the best results of pragmatic cooperation between China and Asean member states.
At the same time, alongside the permanent exhibition hall, the CAEXPO will be optimised online as well. This will coordinate both online and offline exhibitions, as well as economic and trade activities, throughout the year, ensuring that the expo remains accessible and functional beyond the event itself.
