China-based smartphone manufacturer realme has an ambitious goal: to challenge the established brands, reshuffle the flagship market and become one of the top three players in the Malaysia market. What is the confidence booster? Its upcoming flagship powerhouse, the realme GT 7 Pro.
Realme global vice president and chief marketing officer Chase Xu expresses that the realme GT 7 Pro, packed with many first-of-its-kind innovations, is a key to capturing greater market share in the local high-end market.
The smartphone market is known to have intense competition globally. In Malaysia alone, there are over 15 brands for consumers to choose from. Despite this, realme, a young brand celebrating its sixth anniversary this year, has managed to weather the fierce battle and win over many hearts. The latest report by Canalys indicates that realme remains in the top five rank in Malaysia with a market share of 12%.
“Looking forward, realme is ready to capture more market share. We believe that the key lies in greater product innovation and the realme GT 7 Pro embodies this value proposition.
“We are constantly challenging ourselves to achieve breakthroughs in product technology as we strive to provide young users around the world with tech experiences that exceed expectations.
“We observed that the Malaysia market has high demand for the realme GT series, based on the outstanding sales performance of realme GT 6, realme GT 3 and more. We are thrilled to announce that Malaysia is the first global market to launch the realme GT 7 Pro. When there’s a call, we make it real,” Xu said.
First Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship in Malaysia
Slated to launch on Nov 18, the realme GT 7 Pro is the first flagship smartphone in Malaysia to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Introduced in late October, the Snapdragon 8 Elite claims to be the most powerful processor in the world, with a benchmark score of over 3 million points on AnTuTu, enabling the realme GT 7 Pro to deliver unrivaled performance.
“Positioned as an AI Performance Flagship, the realme GT 7 Pro is the culmination of our years-long dedication and efforts. It’s a groundbreaking device with revolutionary innovations destined to surpass other flagship smartphones in the market. It is realme’s most premium smartphone ever,” Xu shared.
Qualcomm's senior vice president Chris Patrick previously mentioned that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (now known as the Snapdragon 8 Elite) would see a price increase as the company aims to deliver a processor with "astonishing levels of performance."
When asked about the challenges posed by this price hike, Xu admitted that production costs were higher than before, but reaffirmed the brand's commitment to offering a powerful flagship smartphone that exceeds expectations within its segment.
A powerhouse of innovation
In addition to the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the realme GT 7 Pro wows tech enthusiasts with its extraordinary display screen, battery performance and imaging capabilities. Each aspect comes with a best-in-class innovation.
Realme GT 7 Pro debuts the RealWorld Eco² OLED Plus display, co-developed with Samsung Display. This innovative technology removes traditional polarizers, resulting in greater luminous efficiency. Previously, this technology was exclusively found in flagship foldable smartphones.
“As users are spending more time using their smartphones, we reckon the need for an exceptional display screen is warranted. We are proud to be at the forefront in this segment.
“The realme GT 6 introduces the world’s brightest display screen, which satisfies users’ demands of a more vibrant, clearer display. The innovation continues with the realme GT 7 Pro’s Eco² OLED Plus, boasting the most colourful, lowest power consumption, most eye-friendly OLED display in the industry.”
This time, realme raises the bar again with the GT 7 Pro, achieving a peak brightness of 6500 nits, surpassing the 6000 nits of its predecessor, the GT 6. The 120% DCI-P3 wide color gamut display also reduces power consumption by 52%, ensuring extended usage time.
According to a Chinese tech media S.White Review, realme GT 7 Pro ranks top 1 on battery life ranking. It lasts more than nine hours while playing Honor of Kings, Genshin Impact, social media and news browsing. The long battery life is attributed to a comprehensive battery optimisation solution led by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, RealWorld Eco² OLED Plus and a massive battery capacity. The realme GT 7 Pro comes with a 6500mAh battery capacity, it’s the industry’s largest silicon anode battery capacity.
In terms of innovative imaging capabilities, the realme GT 7 Pro boasts the industry's first Underwater Photography mode, allowing users to explore underwater wonders like never before.
These hardware innovations position realme GT 7 Pro as a strong contender in the flagship smartphone market, particularly when realme is known to offer high-quality products at a competitive price tag.
A trailblazer in AI technology
The brand is also collaborating with Google and Qualcomm to enhance its AI capabilities, an essential foundation to long-term growth, with ambition to explore the next era of AI technology.
“Realme’s strategic partnerships with industry leaders Qualcomm and Google are pivotal in driving innovation, enhancing the user experience and excellence in AI technology. The integration of the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor enables realme flagship to leverage powerful AI capabilities, ensuring a seamless and responsive performance.”
Powered by Next AI, the realme GT 7 Pro demonstrates how the integration of AI enhances efficiency, imaging and gaming, taking flagship intelligence to new heights. The suite of AI features include AI Sketch to Image (turn sketches into painting), AI Motion Deblur (remove motion blur in images), AI Gaming Super Resolution (enhance in-game visuals) and more.
The brand has established Next AI Lab to continuously seek breakthroughs in AI technology. With the mission of “Inspire, Imagine, Innovate”, the Next AI Lab aspires to inspire and empower the younger generation’s creativity. The value of this platform is not just about technology — it’s about creating an AI ecosystem with both depth and purpose, carrying long-term significance for both realme and its users.
“Realme is taking the first step in this journey and will continue to be a populariser of AI. Looking ahead, as Next AI evolves, realme promises exciting breakthroughs in the future. We are confident that our AI Flagship Powerhouse, the realme GT 7 Pro, will surprise every Malaysian,” Xu concluded.
