IN TODAY'S fast-paced world, where technology is constantly evolving, the HONOR Magic V3 introduces a fresh approach to the foldable phone experience.
As the latest addition to the Magic series, this device builds on the solid foundation of its predecessor and offers enhanced features that combine innovative design with practical features for users who value form and function.
HONOR initiated a beta programme where users provided feedback on the Magic V3 after testing it for two months, offering valuable insights into its real-world performance and practical applications.
Slim, durable AI foldable design
One of the attractions of the Magic V3 is its sleek, ultra-slim profile.
While the previous model's measurements of 9.9mm when folded and 4.7mm when unfolded were already impressive, HONOR has pushed the envelope further this year.
The Magic V3 is even slimmer, measuring 9.2mm when folded and just 4.35mm when unfolded.
"It's super thin and light, making it pocket-friendly and easier to hold," shared beta user Ian Thang Cheok Hung.
The design is complemented by the octagonal rear camera module, inspired by a fusion of classic and modern aesthetics, and is available in Mossy Green, Silky Brown and Classic Black colourways.
Durability is another key focus of the Magic V3, equipped with HONOR’s Super Steel Hinge, improved from the Magic V2, and aerospace-grade fibres, providing a robust structure that enhances impact resistance.
This durability was put to the test by beta user Naveena Jeevan Kumar, who shared, "My baby took the phone one time and started playing with it—chewing, drooling, and slamming the phone closed—it was babyproof."
She was pleased that it withstood rough toddler handling.
The device's IPX8 water resistance rating further ensures peace of mind, whether you’re caught in the rain or dealing with spills.
Immersive display and motion-friendly eye comfort
The Magic V3 offers a dual-screen experience, with a 20.12-centimetre (7.92-inch) open, main display and a 16.33-centimetre (6.43-inch) front display.
Both screens support the HONOR Magic Pen and boast impressive specifications, including 1.07 billion colour displays and advanced dimming technology for reduced eye strain.
Tester Lim Kok Wei was impressed by unexpected eye comfort features, noting he experienced no discomfort even during prolonged use—a welcome relief for those prone to motion sickness or eye strain.
“I find it extremely useful. I’m easily affected by motion sickness and have experienced vertigo from staring at the screen of my personal phone.
“However I haven’t experienced tired eyes or discomfort when using the V3 for extended periods.”
The device also introduces the AI Defocus Display, offering enhanced eye protection by simulating the defocus lens principle, which has been shown to relieve eye strain effectively.
Powerful performance and productivity
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the HONOR Magic V3 is designed to handle a variety of tasks efficiently.
The device supports extensive 5G frequency bands, making it suitable for international travel.
Its 5150mAh battery, with fast charging capabilities, keeps users powered throughout the day.
On the productivity front, the Magic V3 offers AI-enabled features, like voice-to-text transcription, supported in 10 languages.
Dzulmajdi Mohamed Zom appreciated the phone's ability to transcribe and translate voice recordings into Bahasa Melayu text, simplifying note-taking during meetings and conferences.
In a show of practical utility in real-world scenarios, the AI face-to-face translation feature, supported by Google Cloud AI, facilitated live conversation between tester Soh Chee Hong with his colleague’s family from Kazakhstan, illustrating the phone’s positive potential.
The split-screen functionality is another highlight, enabling users to manage multiple tasks on the large inner display, reducing reliance on a PC, opined Lim.
Take picture-perfect shots
The HONOR Magic V3's camera system provides a versatile photography experience. With a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, a 50MP wide-angle camera and a 40MP ultra-wide-angle camera, the device is equipped to capture a range of scenes.
The periscope module enables up to 100x digital zoom, allowing users to photograph distant subjects with clarity.
The AI Motion Sensing Capture ensures that highlight moments are captured with precision, while the AI Harcourt Portrait mode adds a touch of artistry to portrait shots.
The HONOR Magic V3 is a versatile and sophisticated device that offers a glimpse into the future of mobile technology in a globalised society.
Its design, performance and user-centric features make it stand out as a device that caters to modern needs with finesse and reliability.
