SUNWAY Carnival Mall's Painting More Than Colours campaign continues to spread joy and make a big difference this festive season.

Run for the second year, the meaningful initiative not only enhanced physical spaces but also embodied the spirit of creating meaningful change for the community.

For Christmas, the mall's management team visited the paediatric ward of Sunway Medical Centre in Seberang Jaya, Penang, to spread holiday cheer to children.

An appearance by a Santa Claus mascot brought beaming smiles to the kids' faces, as did the distribution of toys. Parents also took the opportunity to snap mementos of the occasion.

Sunway Carnival Mall general manager Chai Wen Yew said their aim was to remind the little ones that they were not alone during this special time of year.

"We hope our little visit brightened their day and brought them some joy amid the challenges they're going through," he said of the event on Dec 11.

Following that, their team visited The National Autism Society of Malaysia's (Nasom) Butterworth Centre on Dec 17 to help spruce up facilities and surroundings.

With the help of a local contractor, key areas that needed attention were identified, such as the learning rooms on the upper floor. A group of 20 volunteers from the mall then got to work removing old paint, patching up cracks and holes and then applying fresh coats of paint.

The sensory room was also enhanced with the installation of a thoughtfully-designed mini sensory wall that will foster interaction and support the students' development.

Chai believed these efforts would help create a more conducive and stimulating environment that promotes learning, creativity and growth for all students at the centre.

"We hope to inspire a more positive engagement with education among autistic students. By rejuvenating these learning spaces, it emphasises the importance of connection, care, inclusivity and shared experiences among various sectors of the community, this festive season," he shared.

The Painting More Than Colours campaign is one of many corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts run by Sunway Carnival Mall in alignment with Sunway Group’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) focusing on quality education, reducing inequality and fostering community togetherness.

"Through acts of care, creativity and collaboration, we strive to leave a lasting impact and turn ordinary spaces into extraordinary places filled with warmth and purpose," Chai added.

Besides that, the mall also invites everyone to rediscover the magic of Christmas with various exciting activities under its Christmas Colourama celebrations.

Swing by at 6pm today and tomorrow for Santa Claus meet and greets, or browse the Prismatic Christmas Market by Hin Market, ongoing daily till Dec 29, for gifts.
