PETALING JAYA: Honor's upcoming Magic7 Pro flagship model will include a feature to detect deepfakes during video calls.
When the smartphone suspects that a video call is a deepfake, it will display a notification at the top of the screen to warn users.
This happens entirely on-device without requiring users to share any data to the cloud.
The feature can be enabled across a selection of apps, including WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and WeChat.
Honor says that the deepfake detection feature is the world's first on a smartphone and plans to expand it outside of messaging apps in the future.
Other features demoed include live face-to-face interpretation and translation, which supports 13 languages, including Malay, Korean, Japanese, and Cantonese.
The Magic7 Pro also includes an artificial intelligence (AI) Notes app that can summarise key points of text, provide meeting and interview minutes, and restructure text to suit different styles and tones.
Other features include a customisable virtual avatar that can show up on the lock screen in various scenes depending on the time of day and weather, along with IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.
The device launches in January and will be available in three colours: lunar shadow grey, breeze blue and black.
