Telekom Malaysia to lay submarine cable system between East and West Malaysia

Telekom Malaysia Berhad has announced that it has been awarded a contract via an open tender process to lay down high-speed broadband submarine cables connecting Peninsular Malaysia with Sabah and Sarawak.

Called Sistem Kabel Rakyat 1Malaysia (SKR1M), this submarine cable will span approximately 3,500km and will have an initial capacity of 4-Terabits-per-second (Tbps).
