Apple's new updates iOS 11.3 and macOS 10.13.4 provide users with more information about what kind of data is being collected and how it may be used.

Whenever Apple collects data from an application, a new icon will appear that gives users detailed information that makes it easier to understand data collection.

Apple is not only notifying its users about what kind of data is being collected, but also about why, for which services and in what way data may be shared with third parties.

The iOS 11.3 update can be installed via the settings on your device (available for models from iPhone 5S, iPad mini 2 or iPod Touch 6th generation) under "General" and then "Software Update". For Mac users, the update is available in the Mac App Store, where it can be found under "Updates" – however, the Mac should usually let you know whenever a system update is available. — dpa
