Not home? Get your parcels delivered to a locker or cafe near you

Probably eight out of 10 netizens will readily buy and react to what the 'influencer' of the day is selling.

Online shops today allow consumers to buy everything from books to sneakers and even pet food with just a few simple clicks. You can do it anywhere and at any time of the day.

The downside – most people can’t stay home all day just to wait for the items to arrive.

Plus, there is no worse feeling than stepping out for awhile only to be greeted with a notice stating you have missed your package.

When this happens, you’ll have to call up and arrange for another delivery which means you have to spend another day waiting.

Fortunately, there are now many services that can make life easier for you. Not only do you get to pick up your package from a location of your choice, but some of the services can also be used to return the item.

Parcel365
Parcel365 is an app-based delivery service targeted at those living in high-rise buildings.

"Delivery companies usually have problems getting items to customers' doorstep at condominiums or apartments because they can't just access the area. This service aims to help customers by installing parcel lockers at their buildings," said KC, an executive with the company.

Customers first have to download the Parcel365 app. And you have to be near a locker to arrange for delivery, as the app connects to the locker via Bluetooth.

You will then get a unique code to unlock a locker to retrieve the item when it arrives. Customers can also use this service to drop off a package for delivery.

Currently, Parcel365 lockers are located in the Klang Valley, KC said, and the company hopes to set up more lockers nationwide next year. The rate starts from RM6.

PostCo
With PostCo, you can arrange to collect your item at a preferred cafe, pharmacy, petrol station or stores that have partnered with the company.

Customers can choose from over 1,000 locations nationwide and the price starts from RM2.90 per parcel.

Its partners include Coffea Coffee at The Curve in Damansara, Just In Case outlet at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur, Petron station in Kuchai Lama, Major Drop outlet at Sunway Pyramid and Big Pharmacy in Seri Petaling.

Start by signing up at the website – once you choose your collection point, you’ll receive a notification with a unique code via email or SMS. You then have 14 days to pick up the item from your chosen place using the code.

The website also allows customers to track their parcel.

The company’s PostCo Return service also allows customers to drop off items to be returned to selected online retailers. According to the FAQ section, this service is free.

PostCo is currently in the midst of developing an app for the service.

PopBox
PopBox is service that utilises lockers so customers can pick up their packages or return them.

The company even offers cash on delivery for customers who don’t have a credit card – they just have to pay the cashier when they pick up the item.

All customers have to do is key in a PopBox location as the shipping address and they will get a pin code via SMS to unlock the locker and get the parcel.

The lockers are currently located at selected malls, private universities, high-rise buildings and 24-hour convenience stores like 7-11.

The company says using PopBox as a pick-up point is free. Customers just have to pay the standard shipping fee to the online merchant or courier service.

And some sites even support same day pickup.
