Apple releases new all-screen iPad Pro priced from RM3,499

At the Apple keynote event in Brooklyn, New York on Oct 30, the company announced new versions of the iPad Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Mini.

The refreshed iPad Pro comes in two sizes,11in and 12.9in, with an all-new thin bezel design minus the home button. Users can navigate the new iPad Pro using intuitive gestures. The device powered by the new A12x bionic chip is also equipped with a 12MP rear camera and 7MP front-facing camera. 

Other features include liquid retina display, quad speakers set-up and Face ID. It also has a USB-C connector and runs on the latest iOS 12. You can choose from four storage options; 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 1TB. 


iPad Pro pricing guide. — The Star

If you're planning to get one, the 11in 64GB model with WiFi connectivity is priced at RM3,499 according to the official Apple Malaysia site. Then a similar model with WiFi and cellular connectivity is priced at RM4,149.

The 12.9in iPad Pro starts from RM4,349 for the 64GB model with WiFi connectivity. If you're looking to go all the way with 1TB storage and WiFi plus cellular connectivity, be prepared to fork out RM8,199.

The company also introduced a second generation Apple Pencil that is compatible with the new iPad Pro. The stylus can be attached magnetically to the new iPad Pro for storage and wireless charging. It also has Bluetooth connectivity and intuitive touch surface that supports double tapping. It is listed for RM549.

Other accessories you can get for the new iPad Pro include attachable Smart Keyboard Folio for RM769 (for 11in model) and RM869 (for 12in model).

MacBook Air pricing guide. — The Star

At 1.25kg and 1.56cm-thick, the device is dubbed as the first Mac to be made with 100% recycled aluminium. It comes with 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, Intel UHD Graphics 617, 8GB or 16GB memory and four solid state drive (SSD) storage options of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1.5TB. 

The new MacBook Air is priced from RM5,249 for the base model of 128GB SSD with 8GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory. Looking for a model with more storage space? Then get one with 256GB for an additional RM850, or the 512GB for an additional RM1,700, or 1.5TB for a whopping extra RM5,100.

Apple also introduced a new Mac Mini desktop computer with 3.6GHz quad-core 8th-generation Intel Core i3 processor or 3.0GHz 6-Core processor, with prices starting from RM3,449.

If you can afford to splurge on a model with all the highest specs which includes 64GB memory, 2TB storage, 10 Gigabit Ethernet and pre-installed software like Final Cut Pro X, then it will cost you a cool RM 20,438.80. 

All the new products can be purchased now except for the iPad Pro which will only be available later.
