Although most home networks these days are wireless, the wired version can still play an important role, especially where a very stable or fast connection is required.

If you want to connect lots of devices by cable but don’t have enough sockets on your router, you can get a so-called LAN switch – essentially a multi socket.

This network switch is connected to a free LAN socket on the router, uses its own power supply and can provide five, ten or even more sockets, depending on the device. – dpa
