Paratroopers in China are turning to virtual reality to try to boost their combat readiness as their military commands shift training focus from a Russian model to an American one and address a lack of real combat experience.

An old Russian emphasis on promoting elite paratroopers is being replaced by American-style training stressing joint operations and new technologies, Chinese military experts have said.
