Nintendo acquires Dynamo Pictures in a move into the entertainment business


The acquisition comes as Nintendo prepares for the release of the widely anticipated animated movie based on the Super Mario Bros franchise, which is expected to hit cinemas in April 2023. — Reuters

LONDON: Nintendo announced on Thursday that the video gaming company signed an agreement to "acquire 100 percent of outstanding shares of Dynamo Pictures," a Tokyo-based CG production studio.

In the statement, Nintendo said it is acquiring Dynamo with the intention "to strengthen the planning and production structure of visual content in the Nintendo group" and focus on developing "visual content utilisng Nintendo IP."
