Seeking sustainability: Boosting the performance and lifespan of smartphone batteries

For many manufacturers, the issue of battery life is central to their strategy. — AFP Relaxnews

Under pressure from consumers, but also from legislators, smartphone manufacturers are now being forced to find ways to improve the lifespan of their devices. And this starts with their batteries, which often lose their effectiveness very quickly. Some solutions are already on the market, while others are in the pipeline.

One of the top reasons people change their smartphone – usually every two or three years – is the state of its battery, which no longer provides sufficient charge to use it properly all day long. On this subject, draft legislation is currently being studied by the European Commission.
