With the 2022 App Store Awards, Apple once again recognised the best of the best in apps and games currently available on its online store. Among the winners are a surprising genealogy app, an alternative word processing app and an app that reminds you to drink enough water during the day.
MacFamilyTree 10, a genealogy program, has been named app of the year for Mac. It allows you to create particularly intuitive and visually beautiful family trees, in collaboration with relatives from all over the world. Among its most spectacular features are the ability to add colour to old photos and decipher old documents, so you can be sure you won't get the dates or names of the people mentioned wrong.
Meanwhile, GoodNotes 5 was elected app of the year on iPad. This is a word processor capable of accurately transcribing texts written on the screen with its stylus. It allows, as its name suggests, to take notes (handwritten or typed), but also to draw or annotate various documents.
Among the other apps singled out by Apple this year is Waterllama. Original; mainly aimed at children, it gives them advice and reminders to drink water regularly. Depending on their profile, the goal is to achieve optimal hydration in a playful manner. Of course, the data can be consulted over time, to ensure that the app user is hydrating regularly every day.
Other award-winning apps include BeReal (the new social network, named best iPhone app of the year), ViX, Gentler Streak, How We Feel, Dot's Home, Inua - A Story in Ice and Time and Locket Widget. Apple's favourite games this year are Apex Legends Mobile, Moncage, Inscryption, El Hijo, Wylde Flowers and League of Legends Esports Manager. All these applications are available for download from the Apple App Store.
The App Store was launched in 2008 and now counts about 1.8 million applications. – AFP Relaxnews
