SOS signal leads rescuers to ‘severely injured’ US snowmobiler

A 21-year-old snowmobiler was rescued by helicopter after crashing in a remote area, Utah rescuers said.

Wasatch County Search and Rescue got an SOS alert Jan 4 from a Garmin InReach personal locator saying a “severely injured snowmobiler” needed to be rescued south of Currant Creek Peak, according to a Facebook post by the rescue team.

Search and rescue crew along with Wasatch Fire and Intermountain LifeFlight were dispatched to the area, according to the release.

Officials said the injured snowmobiler needed to be transported by medical helicopter.

After a 4 1/2-hour rescue mission, the man was airlifted via LifeFlight and taken to a local hospital, according to FOX News.

The man’s injuries and current condition are unknown, according to KSL.
