The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has announced that Touch ‘n Go cards with designs featuring some of the country’s top badminton players will be available for sale.

The cards will only be available for purchase at a Touch ‘n Go booth in Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 14-15 in conjunction with the PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2023 badminton tournament.

Four designs will be available: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, Pearly Tan-Thinaah Muralitharan, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and Ng Tze Yong. Based on the image shared by BAM, each card has a Touch ‘n Go eWallet logo which indicates the cards may feature NFC.

Both BAM and Touch ‘n Go have yet to announce the pricing for the cards. As these cards are limited edition releases, they may be priced higher than the usual Touch ‘n Go NFC cards which cost RM10 each.

Previously, Touch ‘n Go released NFC cards featuring designs by United Voice artists which were priced at RM25 each with no value preloaded.

Meanwhile, PETRONAS has issued a statement on Twitter highlighting that the company logo and Mercedes-AMG Formula One team logo are being used without its authorisation on some merchandise including Touch ‘n Go NFC cards.

The company said the products are being sold online.

“As such PETRONAS cannot and will not accept any responsibility of issues arising from or related to the purchases of these merchandise or items,” the company said in the statement, adding that it is also communicating with relevant authorities on the matter.

Some users on social media are offering what they claim to be ‘limited edition’ Touch ‘n Go NFC cards bearing PETRONAS and Mercedes-AMG Formula One team logos for purchase through an ecommerce platform.
