ShopeePay’s new policy introduces non-transferable ewallet balance

Shopee has introduced a new policy for its ewallet service, ShopeePay.

The policy separates users’ ShopeePay wallets into two types of balances: transferable and non-transferable.

Under this new policy, top-ups made using credit cards and cashbacks will be placed under the non-transferable balance of the ewallet.

Funds in the non-transferable balance cannot be transferred to a bank account or to another user.

Moving forward, these non-transferable funds can only be used for online and offline checkouts, said the company.

Those looking to check their transferable and non-transferable balances can navigate to their ShopeePay homepage and click on the Transfer icon. Detailed steps on this are available on Shopee's FAQ page.

The change appears to still be in the process of rolling out, as not all users seem to have the transfer restriction on credit card top-ups as of yet.

According to Shopee’s FAQ, funds from the non-transferable category will be utilised first when making payments.

Once these funds are depleted, the transferable balance will then be used.
