According to a report from leaker site WABetaInfo, a new feature that allows for multiple WhatsApp accounts to be used on a single device is currently in development on the beta version of WhatsApp Business.

This differs from the Companion mode that was introduced earlier in April this year, which allowed a single account to be used across multiple devices.

A preview for the feature was discovered in the Android 2.23.13.5 beta version update of the messaging app.

When multiple accounts are added, users reportedly will be able to switch between them freely. Accounts can then be removed by selecting that account and logging out from the device.

While the feature was discovered on the WhatsApp Business version of the messaging app, WABetaInfo reports that nothing seems to indicate that the feature is exclusively a business tool, meaning that it will likely make its way to the regular version of the app down the line.

The leaker site however did not elaborate on the number of accounts that could be added to a single device.

WhatsApp has also previously started rolling out HD image sharing last week and video messages yesterday to beta users on iOS and Android.

The video messages feature can be toggled by tapping the microphone icon in a chat (a video camera symbol when switching back), and like the voice messages feature will require users to hold the button while recording a message.
