Malaysian youths aged 18 to 20 and full-time students at institutes of higher education will be happy to hear that registration for the RM200 ewallet aid under the e-Tunai Belia Rahmah initiative is now open.

Those who qualify will need to pick an ewallet for the money to be credited to. Options include Touch 'n Go (TNG), Boost, and Setel.

Once decided, the ewallet app will need to be installed from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, depending on the smartphone; then either log in to an existing account or create a new account if without a pre-existing one.

After logging in, tap on the e-Tunai Belia Rahmah icon or banner (depending on the ewallet selected) shown on the home screen.

Users will then need to verify their identity in the app with a picture of their MyKad or passport along with a selfie if they have not previously done so.

The app will then have users fill out and submit a form with their personal particulars, including full name, address, and so on.

Following this, the application will be reviewed by the app, which can take between one to three days.

Should the claim be successful, users will receive a notification from the app and the credit will be added to the account.

It is worth noting that the e-Tunai Belia Rahmah credit is meant only for offline transactions, meaning that it cannot be used for any digital purchases or cashed out.

For a full list of what the credit cannot be used for, users can refer to the respective FAQ pages on the TNG, Boost, and Setel websites.

The ewallets eligible for the scheme also offer varying additional perks should the claim be done on its platform, so definitely check out the specifics in the respective apps before making a choice.

Claims for the e-Tunai Belia Rahmah will be open from today until Aug 22, with RM400mil set aside for the scheme under the 2023 budget, which is expected to benefit up to two million youths aged 18 to 20.
