YouTube has announced that it is working on integrating a tool for translating and dubbing videos into multiple languages, using artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence is proving a source of inspiration for many online platforms. After TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram, YouTube has announced the development of a new tool for translating and dubbing videos into different languages.

A promising prospect

To provide video dubbing in several languages, YouTube has teamed up with Aloud, a tool from Area 120, Google's in-house incubator. The service makes it possible to get video transcripts, translations and dubbing free of charge – a major advantage for creators, who will be able to take advantage of its benefits without paying anything.

Thanks to Aloud, and the dubbing of their videos into various languages, influencers will be able to reach a wider audience, potentially get more views, and therefore earn more money.

YouTube has given access to this tool to hundreds of creators in order to test it, said Amjad Hanif, vice-president of creator products at YouTube, according to TechCrunch.

For the moment, the tool translates English videos into two languages: Portuguese and Spanish. The Aloud website states that other languages will soon be available, without giving a launch date. TechCrunch mentions Hindi and Bahasa Indonesia as upcoming additions.

According to Aloud's official website, the transcription of a video can be modified by the creator to make the translation and dubbing even more accurate. It should take around 10 minutes to translate and dub a five-minute video.

In addition to offering audio translation of a video, YouTube aims to make the experience even more natural by 2024, by reproducing the creator's voice, retaining the same emotional tone and even respecting the speaker's lip movements. – AFP Relaxnews
