PETALING JAYA: The Finance Ministry and Touch ‘n Go issued reminders urging e-Tunai Belia Rahmah recipients to be wary of users offering "cash-out" services.

The Finance Ministry tweeted: Tidak semua yang berkilau itu indah. Sila ambil langkah waspada dan berjaga-jaga jika anda menerima sebarang tawaran penebusan tunai (Not everything that glitters is beautiful. Please be cautious and wary if you receive any cash redemption offers).

Previously, the ministry said that transferring out the e-Tunai Belia Rahmah credit for cash redemption or withdrawal is not allowed, and action can be taken against those who abuse the ewallet privilege.

In a post on Facebook on June 27, Touch ‘n Go eWallet also urged e-Tunai Belia Rahmah to not be fooled by irresponsible parties claiming they can cash out the credit for them.

The matter has also caught the attention of former Religious Affairs Mufti Minister Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, who said in a blog post that it’s not permissible as it clearly violates the terms and conditions of e-Tunai Belia Rahmah laid out by the Finance Ministry.

On platforms like Twitter, a number of users are offering to transfer e-Tunai Belia Rahmah credit from recipients’ ewallets to their bank accounts, with most charging a fee of RM1 to RM3 per transaction.

According to the Finance Ministry, the e-Tunai Belia Rahmah credit can be used for physical transactions at over 1.7 million business outlets nationwide.

Apart from TNG eWallet, eligible recipients can redeem the credit through the Boost and Setel apps from now until Aug 22.
