What's new this week: Samsung smart monitors, ROG Ally gaming console, Insta360 Go 3 action cam

Samsung Malaysia launched its new lineup of smart monitors on Wednesday, with the M8 and M7 following an earlier global launch in May.

Both displays measure 32in, go up to 4K resolution and come with a USB-C rechargeable remote control.

The main differences between the two models are the max brightness (400 nits on the M8 vs 300 nits on the M7), HDR support (HDR 10+ on the M8 and HDR 10 on the M7), a built-in slim-fit camera and support for the Internet of Things with Zigbee and Thread for the M8.

Other shared features include a 60Hz refresh rate, a 4ms response time, support for streaming services, including Netflix and YouTube, and a voice assistant.

The M8 is priced at RM3,588, but is currently available at RM2,888 as part of the launch promo until July 9, while the M7 costs RM2,788, but is going for RM2,238 during the launch promo.

Insta360 Go 3

Insta360 launched its Go 3 on the same day, the latest addition to its family of tiny action cameras.

The camera has a 2.7K resolution when recording at 30fps (frames per second), a 45-minute battery life, and an Action Pod with a flippable 2.2in screen, Bluetooth connectivity and a charger.

Insta360's Go 3 is priced at RM1,869 for the 64GB version. The 32GB version is currently available for pre-order at RM1,779, while the 128GB version is at RM1,999.

Steam Summer Sale

Steam is also having its Summer Sale this week and released a trailer highlighting some of the titles that will be on sale.

Video games in the trailer include Anno 1800, Smalland: Survive The Wilds, The Mageseeker: A League Of Legends Story, Pharaoh: A New Era, Rust, Vertigo 2, Dead Cells, Terra Nil, Civilization VI, Sifu, Stardew Valley, Boundary, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice GOTY Edition, and Total War: Warhammer III.

Like all major Steam sales, the platform will offer themed trading cards, badges, profile backgrounds, and free daily stickers.

ROG Ally gaming handheld

On Saturday (July 1), after the Steam sale kicks off, Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) will be making its ROG Ally gaming handheld console available to dealers.

There will also be an ROG Ally Experiential Roadshow at Plaza Low Yat starting at 10am.

Attendees will be able to get hands-on experience with the handheld, exclusive bundles, and enter a lucky draw. The Ally is priced at RM3,299.
