BERLIN: More than a decade after its launch, the original Western adventure of "Red Dead Redemption" is at last launching on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 consoles.

Rockstar Games has announced the classic open world shooter, among the most best-reviewed Western shooters in gaming, has been ported for these consoles.

Fans of the Red Dead series shouldn't expect a new storyline for John Marston, but there is an included expansion called "Undead Nightmare" in which the outlaw protagonist has to face a horde of zombies.

While the acclaimed sequel to the 2010 original has been available on PS4, neither had been available for the Switch.

The vast, living world and memorable storytelling of "Red Dead Redemption" and "Undead Nightmare" are scheduled to be available in the Nintendo Switch eShop and PlayStation Store starting August 17 and will cost around €50/US$50 (about RM229).

As a physical version, both are to be available in a bundle from October 13. The game also runs on PS5. – dpa
