Google appears to be bringing its Play Pass subscription gaming service to Malaysia, offering a large library of ad-free games and apps to Android devices.

The plan is available for RM10.99 a month or RM99 annually, quite a bit cheaper than its price in the United States – US$4.99 (about RM23) monthly and US$29.99 (RM139) a year.

Those keen on giving it a try will be happy to hear that the first month subscription is available for free to new users, with titles such as the original Final Fantasy VII, Stardew Valley, Dead Cells, Little Nightmares, and Limbo included with the service.

To claim the free first month, open up the Google Play app on an Android device, tap on the profile picture icon at the top right of the screen, and select Play Pass to get started.

After that, the on-screen instructions will prompt users to subscribe to the service at no charge, just make sure to unsubscribe before the trial period ends to avoid being charged for the following month.

Users also have the option to set up a family group to share the subscription with up to five others. This is done by opening the Google Play store app, tapping on the profile picture, going to settings and selecting family.

There should then be an option to "sign up for family library", which when selected will provide further prompts to be followed.

The Google Play Pass was originally introduced back in September 2019, functioning similarly to something like Apple Arcade or PC Game Pass, where with a monthly subscription fee, all game titles and software are made available to users to freely download.

It is worth noting that at present, Google's list of officially supported countries for the Play Pass does not include Malaysia. However, the fact that the country has already received localised pricing could indicate that an official rollout may be on the horizon.
