BERLIN: Finding evidence, reconstructing the crime, finding and convicting the murderer – a tough task. That's especially true for the criminal case of puzzle adventure game "Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective", since you're the murder victim yourself.
Players slip into the role of the ghost Sissel, who awakens at a crime scene and comes across his own corpse. He has no memories of his previous life and how it ended. The only chance to find an answer is a detective who was looking for Sissel when he was still alive.
As a ghost, you have a special superpower: Sissel can turn back time by four minutes and interact with objects. That’s how you can help people out of trouble who are themselves in the crosshairs of a murderer.
As a little blue ghost, you can make things like doors move and thus distract criminals. But what exactly you move needs to be carefully considered because not all attempts end successfully.
When the original game was released for the Nintendo handheld DS back in 2010 reviewers praised the game's good plot, which shines with surprising twists. The graphic style, which despite its simple 2D nature is unique and has great animations, also deserves praise.
The original game was considered an insider's tip and this HD remastered version is worthy of the same status because in 12 to 14 hours of gameplay "Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective” offers a truly exceptional gaming experience.
The game is available for PCs, the Nintendo Switch, the PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One and costs around €30/US$30 (RM128 in Malaysia). – dpa
