MADRID: Hackers have stolen the credit card details of a number of customers of Spain’s Air Europa airline, the company announced on Oct 10.
Air Europa apologised to its customers and urged them to block credit cards used in buying tickets online, the Europa Press news agency and state broadcaster RTVE reported.
The hack secured the credit card numbers, their expiry dates and the three-digit card verification numbers on the back.
Air Europa said that it had no information to the effect that the stolen data had been abused thus far, but it urged customers to communicate with their banks or credit card issuers only through official channels and to lay charges in the event of misuse.
Air Europa is Spain’s third largest airline after Iberia and Vueling. – dpa
