As Maxis unveils new pricing for its Home Fibre plans, the company says existing customers on its 100Mbps and above plans will receive free speed upgrades and pay the same monthly fee.
“For existing Maxis Home Fibre customers with speed 100Mbps and above, you will enjoy a free speed upgrade, which will enable you to enjoy higher speed with better value,” the telco said in an FAQ on its website.
When contacted, the company said customers will be upgraded to the next tier: 100Mbps customers to 300Mbps, 300Mbps to 500Mbps, 500Mbps to 800Mbps, and 800Mbps to 1Gbps. Monthly fees will remain unchanged as per existing contracts.
The company in the FAQ that customers will receive more information about the free speed upgrade next month (November).
“This free speed upgrade will be offered to you without a new contract. If you are currently on contract, your contract will be carried forward,” the company said.
Customers on the 30Mbps plan, however, will be “encouraged to upgrade” to the 100Mbps plan by paying an additional RM10. The company said the upgrade is subject to network and technology infrastructure available in the area.
The new monthly fee for the Maxis Home Fibre plans are RM99 (originally RM129) for 100Mbps, RM139 (originally RM149) for 300Mbps and RM159 (originally RM219) for 500Mbps.
New customers who sign up can get a RM10 monthly rebate for 24 months.
It is also offering 1Gbps for RM249 monthly which comes with free Max WiFi, a subscription service for additional equipment to achieve full WiFi coverage at home, worth RM29 monthly. The fee covers installation with repair and maintenance of the additional equipment.
The company is also offering a 2Gbps plan for RM319 monthly which comes with a WiFi 6E router.
The 30Mbps plan for RM69 monthly will be available for eligible customers under the Maxis Fibre Pakej Rahmah.
