Malaysia will host the M6 World Championship, which is set to begin in November 2024.

Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli made the announcement at the M5 World Championship Finals in Manila, Philippines yesterday (Dec 17).

“M6 will be a momentous occasion for our nation, and we are eager to welcome players, fans, and esports enthusiasts from across the globe to experience the unmatched hospitality and passion that Malaysia has to offer.

“The collective efforts of all Malaysians will craft an unforgettable experience, embodying the spirit of Malaysia Truly Asia,” he said at the event.

This year's tournament featured a prize pool of US$900,000 (RM4.22mil) with Filipino team AP Bren taking home US$300,000 (RM1.4mil) after winning the championship by defeating Indonesia's Onic Esports 4-3 in the grand final.

Malaysian teams Homebois and Team SMG finished at 10th and 12th place respectively, each taking home US$20,000 (RM93,908) from the prize pool.

“I truly hope that Homebois and Team SMG leverage this experience as fuel, striving for improvement and returning even stronger next year. PANTANG KITA MENGALAH, SAMPAI HABIS – we don’t quit until it’s over,” Adam said of the local teams’ performance at the tournament.

This is the second time Malaysia will be hosting the top Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament featuring top 16 teams from around the world.

In 2019, Malaysia hosted the M1 World Championship at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur. To date, Malaysia’s best achievement at the tournament was when team Todak finished third place in 2019.
