KUALA LUMPUR: Maxis will collaborate with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to accelerate innovation in generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) and 5G use cases for Malaysian enterprise customers.

The company’s chief executive officer, Goh Seow Eng, in a statement, said that the collaboration with AWS aims to bring next-generation digital capabilities to Malaysian businesses.

He said that the collaboration, announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, also aims to redefine the landscape of digital innovation, empowering businesses with cutting-edge AI solutions and next-generation connectivity powered by AWS.

“This collaboration will focus on leveraging advanced 5G and generative AI technologies into real-world business use cases, targeting the retail, manufacturing, logistics, and financial services domains, with the aim of enabling greater innovation for Malaysian enterprises.

“Building on AWS, we will be able to offer integrated solutions designed to adapt to evolving business needs, providing them with a competitive edge through technology advancements,” he said, adding that Maxis is part of the Malaysian Pavilion at the MWC.

Within Maxis, Goh highlighted that the collaboration will focus on customer service enhancements and support offerings for enterprise customers to make faster, more compelling, and more effective business decisions.

“Maxis will now be able to leverage AWS advanced machine learning capabilities to build, train, and deploy AI models at scale, harnessing the full potential of artificial intelligence.

“The combined efforts of generative AI integration and large language model training to support the Malay language will also help accelerate the digital transformation journey for more Malaysian businesses,” he said.

Furthermore, he mentioned that this marks a significant milestone for Maxis, adding to its distinction as the first and only telco in Malaysia to be an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner and AWS Direct Connect partner.

“AWS Direct Connect cloud service enables dependable and low-latency performance by linking the customer’s network directly to the AWS cloud.

“With its expertise in leveraging end-to-end digital solutions for enterprises, including industry-leading cloud solutions, Maxis is well-positioned to collaborate with AWS to drive innovation in the exciting space of generative AI,” he said.

Goh added that Maxis’ partnership with AWS started in 2019 through a strategic collaboration agreement to deliver industry-leading cloud technologies, aligning with Maxis’ approach to harness the potential of partnerships to support the diverse digital and connectivity needs of enterprises. – Bernama
