Payment gateway iPay88 faces service disruption due to global CrowdStrike outage (Update: Issue resolved at 4.30pm)

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian payment gateway provider iPay88 has issued an “incident notification” email alerting about an unexpected service disruption that occurred today (July 19) as part of the global IT outage.

"This disruption was due to (a) global outage caused by CrowdStrike, our security service provider, which impacted our payment gateway service.

"During the outage, our systems were unable to fully process transactions and validate payment information," the notification says.

iPay88 handles payment processing services for numerous Malaysia-based businesses for both online transactions and physical retail stores. Some Malaysians have reported not being able to make payments using their cards today, which may be due to the outage.

iPay88 further states that the incident began at 1.30pm and is currently ongoing, without any estimate on when it will be resolved.

"We sincerely apologise for any disruption this outage may cause to your operations. Please rest assured that we are doing everything possible to restore normal service as quickly as possible," the company wrote.
