She began borrowing and sending funds to the scammer with the expectation that she would receive a magic bracelet that would help her daughter with her alcohol issues.
She continued to send money when the supposed fortune teller said she needed to pay for the bracelet to be cleaned before it could be sent.
She said that threats were made to have a curse put on her family members and if they died it would be her fault.
When she finally realised she was being scammed, she was told that she needed to send US$1,900 (RM8,760) to receive a refund.
