Jools Lebron is singlehandedly responsible for the resounding chorus of “very demure” and “very mindful” on social media this summer.
But a recent video shows her in tears over a trademark.
Lebron’s “very demure, very mindful” catchphrase took off after she posted a series of videos on TikTok explaining her approach to all things “demure” and “mindful” — and what that means.
Now Lebron has been influencing for brands, making TikTok videos for companies like Southwest Airlines and Verizon.
There’s even a “very demure, very mindful” Netflix category (Ugly Betty, Bridgerton, La La Land and Emily in Paris are among the picks).
Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian jumped on the trend, inserting “demure” and “mindful” into their videos.
However, the Chicago social media star posted a tearful video saying that she “dropped the ball” when it came to trademarking her famous catchphrase to sell related merchandise.
TMZ previously reported that someone named Jefferson Bates from Washington state had filed to trademark “very demure ... very mindful.”
“I’ve just invested so much money and time into this,” Lebron said, tearing up in a since-deleted video.
“And I feel like I did it wrong. I feel like I didn’t try hard enough. I wanted this to do so much for my family and I just feel like I dropped the ball. Like, I feel like I (expletive) up and someone else has it now. I don’t even know what I could’ve done better because I didn’t have the resources.” – nj.com/Tribune News Service
