Garmin has unveiled the Approach R50, a golf launch monitoring device capable of offering an at-home virtual golfing experience based on over 43,000 real courses from around the world.

On the device is a 10in touchscreen along with three high-speed cameras which the company says is capable of tracking over 15 ball and club metrics, providing detail and precise analytics for each type of golf club.

Footage from these cameras can also be played back for golfers looking to review their stroke close up, working with collected data to help golfers improve their game.

On the simulator front, the Approach R50 enabled golfers to play on virtual courses rendered in 3D through Garmin's Home Tee Hero simulator software with up to four other players.

They can also participate in online weekly tournaments, with scores posted on a global leaderboard.

The Approach R50 also has support for various third-party golfing simulators, including GSPro, E6 Connect and Awesome Golf.

Avid golfers looking to create more immersive simulator experience can also hook the device up to an external monitor or projector to display the virtual course, with the display on the device being used just for data, statistics, and impact review videos.

Priced at RM23,999, the Approach R50 comes in quite a bit more expensive than the Approach R10, Garmin's existing launch monitor and golf simulator, which normally costs RM3,170.
