BERLIN: Using a magic trick, the evil wizard Gargamel has put almost all of Smurf Village into a deep sleep. But not all – because Papa Smurf smelled a rat and stayed awake.

In the new game The Smurfs: Dreams, the head of the village has an idea of how to wake the Smurfs up again. Unfortunately, due to his old age, he’s no longer quite as fit on his feet and needs help.

So armed with a magical XXL pillow, players jump into the dreams of the snoring Smurfs and try little by little to get them out of their deep sleep.

There are lots of challenges and puzzles in the dream worlds that need to be mastered with skill. Players have to overcome obstacles, collect items, and occasionally fight.

Although most of the enemies are fairly easy to defeat, there are also some boss fights that require special skills.Although most of the enemies are fairly easy to defeat, there are also some boss fights that require special skills.

The levels are intuitively structured and don’t require much explanation. It’s easy to get to grips with the mechanics and discover the various tasks in a playful way.

In addition, the imaginatively designed environments ensure that you keep coming across new secrets and surprises as you explore the dream worlds.

In the style of a classic jump'n'run game like Super Mario, The Smurfs: Dreams mainly involves jumping, sprinting, and dodging.

Even those who have little or no experience in gaming will find their way here because the game's controls can be learned quickly. Once you’ve completed a level, you end up back in Smurf Village. Here you can gradually personalise and customise your own Smurf.

Once you’ve found a suitable outfit, you can go back to dreamland using the XXL pillow. There you can navigate to a new dream world using the star map, but old levels can also be repeated if you wish.

The colourful adventure offers a multiplayer function in addition to the single player mode. Each time you start the game you can choose between solo and co-op mode. However, this only works locally with a second controller. The game doesn’t have an online mode.

You travel back and forth through the various dreams of the Smurfs until the whole village has awakened again. But it's not quite as easy as that might sound because Gargamel has a few aces up his sleeve. However, if you show enough courage and skill, you can help Papa Smurf save the other villagers.
