A new web browser powered by artificial intelligence is in the works, designed to simplify the lives of its users. Much more than just a browser, the idea is to provide access to an all-purpose assistant from a single interface.

The American start-up The Browser Company has teased Dia, a new web browser project powered by artificial intelligence. Already behind Arc Browser, a web browser for professionals and students featuring a number of innovative features designed to enhance users' browsing experience and productivity, the company is now looking to go one step further and launch a browser designed entirely around AI.

This browser will be built around a new environment, and users will be able to enter their requests or ask their questions directly in the address bar, whether to access an associated web page or a document. In the case of a document, for example, it can be retrieved, modified and emailed, all by means of simple natural language commands.

Above all, the browser integrates an intelligent assistant that can, at any time, complete the wording of an email or search for information online to help with the drafting of a document.

With Dia, the idea is to automate the many repetitive tasks involved in using a browser. The startup has shared a video of its project online, and has announced a vast recruitment drive to launch it as quickly as possible, from as soon as 2025.

This announcement comes at a time when OpenAI, the publisher of ChatGPT, is already working on an advanced, AI-powered web browser. So, after its search engine, OpenAI could be set to compete with another iconic Google product, the Chrome browser.

The OpenAI browser would obviously integrate ChatGPT and would be capable of responding to natural language queries to access dedicated sites. – AFP Relaxnews
