Japan Airlines Co said it’s experiencing issues with its systems due to a cyberattack that could impact local and international flights.
The airline has had to halt ticket sales for departures on Thursday due to the incident and there are delays in some flight operations, according to the company. The problem hasn’t impacted flight safety, JAL said.
The issues started early Thursday morning, with the cause of the problem identified just before 9am, the carrier said in a post on X. The router causing the problem has been temporarily shut down, according to the company.

JAL’s shares fell as much as 2.5% in Tokyo trading, their biggest intraday decline since Oct 2.
While Christmas Day isn’t a public holiday in Japan, the glitch nevertheless comes as many people are taking time off at the end of the year and as the peak winter travel season ramps up.
On Christmas Eve, American Airlines Group Inc. said that a technical issue with DXC Technology Co., a third-party vendor that maintains the carrier’s flight-operating systems, caused a brief ground stop on all US flights. That halt lasted for about an hour. – Bloomberg
