Several ChatGPT subscribers have taken to social networks to share news of new features for personalising the AI chatbot. For example, it should soon be possible to assign ChatGPT its own personality traits, enabling custom interactions.

Users can already provide ChatGPT with a variety of information to help it communicate better with them, such as specifying their profession, interests and goals, or stipulating the type and tone of responses they'd like. Soon, however, users should be able to assign personality traits to the AI chatbot, for an ever more personal and enriching experience.

At least, that's what several ChatGPT users are starting to report on social networks. They have reportedly been given access to a new custom instructions interface in the platform's settings. According to the screenshots posted, it will soon be possible to answer four new questions, in order to give the bot a better idea of how it should interact with the user: “What should ChatGPT call you?”, “What do you do?”, “What traits should ChatGPT have?”, and “Anything else ChatGPT should know about you?”

When it comes to ChatGPT's personality, you can define it yourself, or select default traits such as “chatty”, “witty”, “Gen Z”, “encouraging”, “sceptical” or “forward-thinking”.

However, this feature is not yet widely deployed, and may initially be reserved for premium subscribers. Previously, personalised instructions were first launched for paying subscribers, before being rolled out to everyone.

The end of 2024 saw a host of new developments from OpenAI's side, from the rollout of ChatGPT's search engine to its integration into WhatsApp, not to mention the official launch of Sora. – AFP Relaxnews
