Those sepia-tinted days of the cheroot-smoking Indian barbers and ‘coconut’ haircuts, as vividly captured by legendary cartoonist Lat, are practically long gone. For example, back in the 1960s and 70s, adult male haircuts in the Klang Valley — by an Indian barber — would roughly cost RM1.50 and a free neck wallop (massage!).
