Iris gets nod to set up high-tech smart village in South Africa

KUALA LUMPUR: South African President Jacob Zuma has given Iris Corp Bhd the greenlight to set up a pilot project of its innovative and high-technology "smart village" in South Africa.

IRIS Corp Managing Director, Datuk Tan Say Jim, said Zuma was interested in the project's agriculture system as well as its housing development, which used a mixture of styrofoam and cement as its base, thus lowering development cost without compromising quality.
