Pressure on EC to explain award of power plant project to joint venture led by 1MDB (Update)

PETALING JAYA: Although the Energy Commission has already awarded the 2,000 MW coal-fired power plant to a joint venture led by 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), it continues to draw scrutiny of the industry players.

Under the regulations, the commission is not obliged to give detailed reasons as to why the project was awarded to the joint venture of 1MDB and Japan’s Mitsui Corp Ltd.
