Malaysia's Axiata and Bharti may merge Bangladeshi ops


PETALING JAYA: Telecommunication services provider Axiata Group Bhd is in talks to merge its operations in Bangladesh with that of India-based Bharti Airtel Ltd.

In its filings with Bursa Malaysia, Axiata said it had entered into an exclusive discussion with Bharti to explore the possibility of combining the business operations of their telecommunication subsidiaries in Bangladesh; namely, Robi Axiata Ltd and Airtel Bangladesh Ltd.
