It appears that Vietnamese fishermen eat a type of snake every time they go to sea in order to ensure strength and enthusiasm at work. Local fisherman Khairuddin Mustapha, who has befriended many Vietnamese fishermen and exchanged stories with them, says he was told that the snake has nutritional value and also helps lessen hunger pangs. The 67-year-old has no information about the species but says he was once invited to savour the reptile. He however, rejected the offer saying it was not common for Malaysians.
