PETALING JAYA: PKR leader Azmin Ali is back on the board of PKNS or Selangor Development Corporation a week after being terminated as a board member.
Azmin is believed to have received a letter on Saturday informing him that he has been reinstated effective Jan 16 after being informed on Jan 8 that he had been terminated as a board member of the state development arm.
It is learnt that the one-paragraph letter stated that PKNS had received instruction from the state government to revoke the earlier termination.
However, Azmin was told that he could not attend the PKNS board meeting at 3pm today. The Mentri Besar’s office had apparently instructed that Azmin not be invited.
The quirky chain of events is seen as part of the power struggle between Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and Azmin. Azmin’s sacking had upset the PKR leadership which then order Khalid to reinstate Azmin.
Khalid blamed it on PKNS general manager Datuk Othman Omar and sources said that Othman and executive secretary Norita Mohd Sidek have been reassigned to the general pool with immediate effect.
