JOHOR BARU: Following a study, the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has submitted its recommendation to the Federal Government to review the fares for public transportation.

SPAD chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar said an increase in fares is justifiable.

"We understand the plight of public transport companies and agree there is a need for an increase in fares including for taxis.

"The review for new fare rates is already in its final round. I hope that public transportation companies including taxis can be patient,” he said during a press conference after launching the 1st Johor Safe Responsible Truckers Day here on Sunday.
