CPO price expected to average RM2,590 this year

Asian share markets faced a testing time on Monday after Wall Street suffered its worst starting week in history and doubts over Beijing's policy choices sent investors into the arms of the safe-haven yen and sovereign bonds.

PETALING JAYA: The price of crude palm oil (CPO) is expected to average around RM2,590 a tonne this year, higher than where it was in 2015, as unpredictable weather pattern disrupts production.

Higher mandated usage of palm oil as fuel will also support prices.
