THE upcoming Sarawak state election will be interesting to watch as it is the first after the changing of guard. This will be the first state election for chief minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem who took helm in 2014 from his predecessor Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud who was in rein for 33 years.
Even before the election year, the state government has thrown in sweeteners to build or enhance infrastructure in the rural and sub-urban areas. Adenan said that about RM6bil or three quarter of the annual budget will be used for the state’s development, out of which, RM2.65bil was set aside for rural development and that is 13% higher year-on-year.
